Hey sisters. So here is the Transparent Truth about me…

I grew up in a Christian household as a preacher’s kid, but I did not truly embrace my identity in Christ until I was 19 years old as a sophomore at Georgia State University. As soon as I made that decision to dedicate my life to truly living for Jesus, several individuals challenged my faith and the God I claimed to believe in. I didn’t have the words to rebuttal, I didn’t know the scriptures — I was dumbfounded into silence. Since then, I have had a deep desire to really know the Bible, understand my faith, defend my faith and help others do the same. Now I see that my hunger to know the Word is more important now than ever as we are facing so many false teachings about the Bible, about Jesus and who He really is. I want to help all daughters of the Most High God get to know Him intimately through the Word so that we won’t be led astray.

I met my husband Craig and became friends with him in 2013, started dating via a long distance and celibate relationship in 2017, and then finally tied the knot on August 18th, 2019. The first three weeks of our marriage were not perfect, however, still blissful nonetheless. Then, God’s sovereign refining process began. The ugly transparent truth about each of us was revealed to ourselves and to one another. No lie, our first year was very hard and riddled with very high highs, and extremely low lows. Through studying what the Bible says about marriage and tapping into community with other married couples, we discovered that we were not alone in our struggle, and that our pain has purpose - and that is to make us totally and utterly dependent on Christ, and let his redeeming work in us bring glory to His name. Now that we know the power of transparency in community, we hope that sharing the lessons we learn in our marriage will bring hope, clarity, relief, and comfort to other young couples trying to navigate Godly relationships.

Lastly, I am a doctor of physical therapy. I graduated from the University of Miami Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in May 2019 - just before I got married. Trying to make my mark in this profession while juggling my responsibilities as a wife, keeping my self emotionally and physically well, AND still prioritizing my relationship with God has been quite the struggle. But I refuse to give up. I don’t know exactly where God is going to take me in this profession, but I know that I have a passion for teaching, mentoring, probono and community service projects — and I love acute care. I just started working in the ICU and acute care floors at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia! My desire is to use my platform to freely teach others what I know, offer guidance and resources to whoever needs it, support my community through the profession of physical therapy, and be transparent about my journey to work life balance (which I still honestly believe that balance is a myth lol).
